LaLiga, Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey to open January 2020
Real Madrid will be involved in three different competitions in January. A new and exciting year is set to start for Real Madrid, and in the first month of 2020 they’ll be involved in three competitions: LaLiga, Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey.
The first clash comes on January 4 at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, against Getafe (4:00pm CET) on LaLiga match day 19.
The Whites then have a further two games in the domestic league in January: Saturday 18 against Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabéu (4:00pm CET); and Sunday 26 against Valladolid at Zorrilla (9:00pm CET).
Before that though, Madrid are set to travel to Saudi Arabia to dispute the Spanish Super Cup, the first time in this format. On January 8, they take on Valencia (8:00pm CET) in the semi-finals. Should they win and reach the final, they’ll play on the 12th (7:00pm CET) against the other semi-final winner, either Atlético de Madrid and Barcelona.
Lastly, the year’s opening month also sees the start of the Copa del Rey, which is also under a new format this campaign. Real Madrid will be involved in the last-thirty-two on January 22 (day to be confirmed) with a single clash at a lower-league side. Should they make it through, the Whites will make the last-sixteen, scheduled for the 29th of the month, again in a single tie.
